Quantcast Enigma: A Posteriori - Ozymandias

Enigma: A Posteriori

Just a quick note in case any of you like Enigma (as in the musical artist). I loved some of the earlier albums, especially the mix of vocals, kettle drums, and overall bassline. Unfortunately, the more recent albums sort of lost me - weren't bad, but didn't really grip me as much as their earlier stuff. Anyway, just picked up the latest album A Posteriori and am really enjoying it - thought I'd share in case some of you might find it of interest. Also picked up the latest Delerium album, Nuages Du Monde - so far so good there, as well. Hope you're all having a great holiday!

FYI if you like good mellow mood music along that vein, Tosca's "Suzuki" album is still an all time classic on my book. Great dub basslines, moody keys and nice drums. It's from 2000, but it's still a classic.

Wow.  What a coincidence – I picked that album up about three weeks ago.  I’ve been a very big Enigma fan since I heard the first track on the radio (Sadeness) um, 15ish years ago. (I’m certainly dating myself here.) MCMXC has played back through the Xbox 360 in my livingroom a number of times. Props to Microsoft on that feature, by the way. Running media to my livingroom over the wireless network has proven worth the cost of the console all by itself.

I agree wholeheartedly, however, that some of the newer material was certainly a departure.  I am enjoying the newest album as well. I rarely run into anyone who’s heard of Enigma – Much less buys the albums.

I'm surprised you found so many folks who haven't heard Enigma. Ah well - they're all philistines. ;)

Argh, another one?!?  As a Delerium, FrontLine Assembly, Conjure One, Noise Unit, Decree and about 100 other side projects featuring some combination of the same three guys it's really hard to keep up with the 5-10 or so albums they put out in a year.

I didn't know there was a new Delerium album.  Crap, I'm behind.  I'm going to have to go check that out.  Rob 3k: no kidding.

I almost entirely agree with your points regarding enigma. I have been a fan since MCMXC A.D, however i though the corss of changes was decent enoguh and I certainly enjoyed a few tracks off of their 3rd and fourth albums. in fact Voyageur is about the only one I really didn't like. Having said that, although a bit more techno, i definitely am enjoying A Posteriori right now.

I was actually listening to an Enigma song off the CD when I was reading the post. Thought it was strange. Was in my New Age playlist, so it was amongst a large selection. I loved both the new Enigma and Delerium stuff. Nice to see others have similar tastes in music, though I am also partial to bluegrass.
