Quantcast Thanks for your Live Thoughts! - Ozymandias

Thanks for your Live Thoughts!

Just wanted to write a quick post to thank all of you who had suggestions for us about the future of Live. While I can't comment on specific suggestions, I can say that many of your thoughts are already being thought about. There were also some new ideas or spins on others that have sparked great conversations here at the office. Now the hard part - time to sit back and see what comes out of all that. Should be a fun year!

Thanks a lot for listening to us! That's what really makes Microsoft stand out compared to other companies by listening to the community and even asking us for feedback. It's always cool for community members to get a say!

Jeez, spam much?

Oz, I appreciate you looking at comments.  Live is already a solid product, and it's nice to see additional features implemented.  I like the movie downloading, and look forward to the iptv stuff.

If it's propaganda to converse with your client base, then I am all for it. If it's a type of propaganda that increases the quality of your product, then I am all for it. If its just asking for asking for feedback that goes nowhere, then I am against it. Best case, the system becomes better. Worst case, it stays as it is; either way it doesn't cost me a dime. I can live with the impact of that sort of "propaganda".

If its a huge-ass anti-propaganda propaganda post then I typically read 20 words or so before I think "wasting brain time on this ... use internal eyeball fast forward button!".

Yeah, actually he does. ;) I've warned that repetitive spam won't be tolerated (vs. real one-off opinions I might not agree with). So it's been deleted as will future posts.

Oh great and powerful Oz, wait, what is that behind the curtain? Is that Bill?? Doh! J/K ;)

Thanks for taking the time Ozzy, ignore the haters, they have probably never played on a 360 or been on Live for that matter. If they had tried Live, they wouldn't be haters.

Just to check, were the comments over at Major Nelson's blog included too? I posted some lengthy ones but they didn't show up here, so I just added them there instead.  Would hate to think they disappeared!

Cheers :)

I'll be going through sometime in the next few days and saving off everyone's posts in a Word doc to archive and share. If your post didn't appear, it probably got caught in the auto-spam filter. Try reposting your suggestions, perhaps in sections. Also, try rewording things if it still doesn't appear. The spam filter isn't perfect - looks for key words, number of words, and a variety of other areas. It's helped a lot from the early days when I first started the blog, but unfortunately some stuff still gets caught in it.

Ozy, wouldn't it be easier for you guys to set up a micro site (knowledge base/wiki style) to let people post suggestions in when you want them? That way they'd go right into a database for easier processing, plus you could require people to sign in to their gamertag before posting and get rid of a lot of junk posts.

Anyway, it's great to see you guys still want to know what the users think and long for. Can't wait to see what the results will be.

I'd love to see a copy of the collated suggestion list - but I suspect that's one daunting task to compile. Requirements analysis is never straighforward, and there were a good number of duplicates and/or slight variations on something (online calendar combining with postdated game invites, for example).

A wiki would be cool, but SO open to being abused by unsavory types.
